All - Many thanks for the input. Now, for the continuing saga. I went for my evening ride last nite and there it was again. I wonder if I haven't scraped of a slide coating that is supposed to be there. Is the float on all your carbs black? The question of alcohol gas is a cause for thought because on my wednesday lunch ride, one gas stop in a small town had ONLY 10% alcohol fuel however this could just be coincidence because i've run alcohol fuel before on occassion without consequence. My thought now is that I know I failed to lube the slide before putting it back in the carb. This could be the source of last nites problem. Another thought that occurred to me was that I may have not wiped it clean enough and left some of the steel wool particles in it causing the tight tolerance to lock it up. Vacuum hose fittings are also a thought but close inspection did't reveal a glaring problem. You can tell, i'm sure, that i'm getting paraniod/annoyed with this. Thanks!
